The Promise of Something New began as a movement of Three Non-Algorithmic Human Interactions for solo guitar. It is published here in a version for four guitars or guitar ensemble, and Matthew still plays it as a solo.
The ensemble version was premiered by the Interlochen Guitar Ensemble in Traverse City, Michigan, in January 2024. It has since been performed by the GFA Bridge Guitar Orchestra at the 2025 Guitar Foundation of America Convention and by the Glendale Community College Guitar Ensembles, both under Chuck Hulihan.
